I'm new to the blog scene and trying to keep it fresh. Feel free to share what you like and don't like. I may cry but I'll get over it. The blog has certainly been a faster way to share things. I often would forget folks when emailing. Now if I could figure how to add a calendar. I learn something new each time I come back to post things. Check out what a 13 year old can do. These cards were made by Devin Johnson as a fund raiser for her own savings account. Since Devin is selling her cards, she keeps them neutral so you can add your on sentiment inside. Never hurts to start early and what a great thing to teach your young folks. Keep up with your time and expenses and figure out how much you want to make an hour. I have a spread sheet if any one interested. Devin's card was my inspiration for July class.

July 09 Stamp Class

Well it's not a Christmas tree but remember it's Christmas in July so you have to hang ornaments where you can. Well I'm addicted to these ornaments. Now lesson learned was don't start assembling before you have the numbers needed. The die for this is the 3-D circle die... it will cut out 4 circles. You can make one ornament out of a 12 x 12 sheet of designer paper. The red one and the one in upper right were using double sided paper. The one on the upper left is single sided paper, less selection. Well I got carried away and put another one together and once again I forgot to count. How frustrating.

Now if there is a match guru out there, I'm sure there must be a math formula that will tell you how many and how to assemble = ? new design. So then I got the smart idea to punch out white ones, I number them 1 - 24 since it punches out 4 at a time. Woohoo, it takes 20 circles to make one ornament about 4.5-5 inch ball. Well of course I couldn't waste the white one with numbers on it so I decided to stamp some snowflakes and apply those in hopes of offering instruction. Well of course in red and very similar, this was not a good idea so in class you'll work from a model using different colored solid dots to assemble.

I'll feature this layout a bit later so check back. Now what I did discover (of course.... waste not, want not) I could punch out a lot of circles out of the scraps (negatives of circles). Now you'd have an assortment of circles to put in the middle of the white triangles for another pretty ornament. Don't waste those scraps.






Working toward winter....Christmas in July classes feature a cheerful card using the new In Color, Melon Mambo. Oh my gosh I'm in love with this new color. I've also used Green Galore. Crimper, gold brad, oval punch and oval scallop punch. Added a white piece of cardstock inside the card to feature the scallop eyelet border punch on the bottom. Ok, so if there is someone out there that wants to help me with my picture taking, my door is open as I don't take the greatest pictures.

Winter will be here before you know it. Once again, I've used Lovely as a Tree. That set was around 2001 when I joined Stampin Up and I've loved this set ever since. I was inspired for the card with 3 by one of my Blog Contributors, Devin Johnson, 13 yrs old. Be sure to come back to see some of Devin's cards. In class you will be making the card of 3 pieces across the card. Simple elegance. Add a touch of glitter and you can feel the cool breezes of winter.
