About Me

My photo
Midway, NC, United States
I retired from Bali Bras, Sara Lee Intimates. Married in Oct 1976. I love meeting new people so hope to hear from you. Drop me a line. I've been doing crafts of all kinds since I was a kid. I loved making things and especially things that are recycled. I had never stamped until 2001 when I went to a stamp class while on vacation. We went to a local store to buy the stamps we had used. OUCH. When we got home I saw a Stampin Up catalog and realized how much money I could save with their stamps and best part as they are sets that go together which makes for easy card making. After doing some thinking I decided I should sign up as a demo and see what happens. I didn't know the first thing about stamping and still learning. Retired from Sara Lee Intimates in Feb 2001. I was in sales after many years, since age 18, as an office person, secretary, office assistant, etc. I am out of Stamping Up since Spring 2017 but still have lots of supplies!!!! These days I'm back to quilting and having a great time.

Blog Contributor: Tammy Carhart "Single Flower Bling"

Tammy has been one busy gal. Don't you just love all the great backgrounds you can get by using the embossing folders by Stampin Up. Remember these will also work in a cuttlebug. The reinstines by Stampin Up are so easy to use as they already have adhesive and come in many sizes just perfect for this card. There's that bling again. Thanks again Tammy.Posted by Picasa

Blog Contributor: Tammy Carhart's "Butterflies take flight"

Now I really like these. Check back ladies, you may just find this project on your April "Spring has sprung" class projects. And who doesn't like a bit of bling. Thanks again Tammy for sharing.Posted by Picasa

Blog Contributor: 3 little flowers by Tammy Carhart

Just 3 little flowers by Tammy. She's used the butterfly sizzlit because it cuts and embosses at the same time. Posted by Picasa

Sharing some cards from friends

Angie Nifong sent me this card when Don's mom passed away. I just love Lovely as a tree. Of course Don loved this card as it was a 4 x 6.

another Kay Bray card I believe. Kay used to send her cards with the note on a sticky so I could then mail the card to someone else. NOT as you can see.

Lynn Rowan of Louisana made this card using bleach technique. Never comes out the same as it depends on dye lot, paper, amount of bleach. Be careful when working with the bleach.

Allyson Buie of stamp club sent me this card.

Jane Peters of Alabama sent me this card. Can't go wrong with Season's Greetings.

Rhonda Johnson normally works on her cards at our annual crop. i love how this looks on vellum. Embossed image in white.

Chris Marko sent this soft card. Great way to use up those odd scrap pieces, dk purple. The basket is popping pastels.

Tammy Howell sent me this card. I love the white gel pen. It makes those background flowers pop. Coloring can be so much fun.

I don't drink coffee but I love coffee cards. Ok, this could be hot chocolate. This was sent to me by Kay Bray, fellow SUD.

How cool that Beth Dodds did this wreath with snowflakes. That's out of the box thinking.

This card made by Lynn Rowan. Ooops didn't realized it had slipped. Of course the card with tree should be more centered on the card. Very nice work.

Just sharing a few cards I ran across. Sad to say I didn't write down who had sent these. Use them for inspiration. If you don't have the same colors or stamps, improvise. Change it up a bit.

If you see your card let me know as I forgot to write down who some were from. Took pics of the cards before I left. Some were from swaps.

I believe this is a card we made in class one year.

Sharing some cards

While these may not be current sets or paper, it's all in the layout and making what you have work. Yes I've had these cards for a while and I was cleaning off the mantel in my craft room and thought I'd share them with you. Do you have a card you'd like me to post to the blog.

Well I believe a fellow demonstrator sent me both of these cards. Thanks Kay Bray for these 3 cards.

This card with the sassy lady, boobs sagging, was sent to me by my friend Lora Goins who never mails her cards. Stamping and coming to class is therapy for her and if you want to see her cards you are welcome to look thru her shoebox of card treasures. Lora did this one on her own. You go girl.

This card was made by Lynn Rowan, my downline in Mandeville, La. It's using clorox stamping. Watch out for your clothes and clean up those stamps quickly.

This card with the torn window shows trees peaking thru. It was sent to me by Angie Nifong. What a nice card. The trees are from Lovely as a Tree.

Blog Contributors: Marilyn McAfee, Julie Heidtmann

Marilyn McAfee sent me these pictures of her wedding gift. What a labor of love. These are pictures of a wedding box I made for one of my co-workers for her daughter's wedding in September. They plan to use it at the reception w/pen and paper for guests to write a message for the bride and groom. Jim sanded and painted the box for me, and I embellished it with the colors of her wedding. Her bridesmaids are wearing black dresses, and she will be carrying red roses. The little swirly thingys in the frames on the ends I made with my Slice. Whatcha think?

Below is a card from Julie Heidtmann. How nice to receive a cute card with order payment.
She is dazzling as many of Julie's cards are. Love that glitter. Thanks Julie

Julie sent me this card some time ago.
It's a simple yet complicated card.
You could do this with any design.

Joan's Blog Contributors

I'd love for you to share your cards and projects. It's always nice to know what my stampers are doing out there. Send me your pictures and if you have details add them and I'll post to the blog. Thanks bunches. I have a couple more pictures from some others that I'll soon be adding.

Check out what a 13 year old can do. These cards were made by Devin Johnson as a fund raiser for her own savings account. Since Devin is selling her cards, she keeps them neutral so you can add your on sentiment inside. Never hurts to start early and what a great thing to teach your young folks. Keep up with your time and expenses and figure out how much you want to make an hour. I have a spread sheet if any one interested. Devin's card was my inspiration for July class.

Thanks Julie Heidtmann for sharing this lovely card. I can't remember if this is a wheel or a row stamp but I love it and pretty sure I also still have this stamp. Thanks for the card.

My Blog

May, 2009 when I started the blog and it's still a learning experience even in 2017.

If you are ever looking for a retired stamp set, ask me, I might have it and let it go.

As a follower you'll get emails when I post things which I tend to do in batches, once or twice a month once I get back on schedule.

Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate all comments.
