August 09 class: Trendy Trees card

It's a simple card and would make a great man's card. The words came directly from "Trendy Trees", pg. #113258, pg. 112, $17.95. This card looked equally a good with the trees all in the same color.

Alisa changed it up by stamping a tree in Crushed Curry and then again in Old Olive, a bit offset. Very nice. I think you could do the same with residue left on stamp from any ink.

Cardstock: Kraft, Choc. Chip, Whisper White
3 gold brads, An easy way to position these is to take a piece of cardstock, the length of brown. Fold in half for the center brad. Then while folded I just punched a hole thru the doubled cardstock to evenly find the other two spots.
Ink: Dusty Durango around the edge of the white with dauber, trees are Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry.

August 09 class, Card w/ Level 3 The More the Merrier

There were 3 cards in the August '09 class.

Well who doesn't like cupcakes. The More the Merrier, Level 3, #115322. You could earn this set ...... FREE. This set offers several choices for several seasons. If you like to color, this set is for you. I stamped with black craft pad and clear embossing powder.

Colors are Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa. Other colors, Gable Green and Barely Banana. The white on the front of this card uses the back side of the texture place used on the Razzleberry card with the big flower.

Ok, I think I'm loving the texture plates.

Now check out the embossing folder on inside of the card. Who doesn't like to run their fingers across something embossed with embossing powder, texture plate or embossing folder.

The pink bows are attached with glue dots and the ribbon wraps around the front of the white piece. The close to cocoa at the bottom is a faux front. It's just a strip of cardstock glued to the front of a white card and the white piece on top.

There's that border punch again, just plain scallop. Have you noticed that are markings on the punch to line up your paper. I like to start punching in the center of the card and work to right and left so that my ends come out more evenly. Ok, so I didn't watch my marks so well on this one. I used corner ticket punch for the strip with cupcakes.

August 09 class uses Level 2

This was a fun card to do in our August '09 class.

It's way faster than it looks. I love crumpled leaves. If you can't cut a leaf freeform then stamp a leaf and cut it out and then you have the option to use the reverse side. The soft green leaf is a white leaf, crumpled and then rubbed with Old Olive.



This card used Level 2 set for the envelope and flower on inside of the card.

The card is one of the new In Colors: Rich Razzleberry. Wow it is pretty.


Now the flower is from the round scallop die. You get 2 sizes. Best to sponge color on the edges and then go back and add some soft streaks of color out to the edge leaving sort of a soft center. To make the cuts which makes it look like it's been scored, make long cuts from scallop indentions and then shorter cuts in the actual scallop..... make sense. Then brush more color on and it sticks to the cuts and viola... the illusion is solved.



The dark center is using a 1" punch that has been snipped around the edge. Glue dot holds the button on. I was inspired for this flower and card by Joanne, Sussex England, Mainly Flowers.

The edge is using the scallop eyelet border punch. Be prepared for lots of little dots. Oh my that would be great confetti. I'm sure there is something we could do with those dots. oooooooh I just had an idea. a glue dot in the center and then drop the dots onto the glue dot and I do think it would really look like the center of a flower. Will have to try that and post.

The inside of this card is simple and since the cardstock is dark, there is another sheet inside, simple. Oh I'll bet you can't really see how pretty the white background is on this card. It's using one of the texture plates. Maybe enlarge it and maybe you can see it.
