February 2012 Stamp Class Projects

This Tempting Turquoise version will repace the Concord Crush pictured below. As luck would have it, I was afraid I might not have enough cardstock. Plus I think this looks like spring with the weather we've been having.

Some of the colors may change a little but these are the cards for the February 2012 class. We'll be making one of the cards with light house so feel free to comment. I have seats open for Thursday 2/9 afternoon class, 1 pm as well as the Sunday 2/12 class, 2 pm. Check my calendar. Call me for a seat, Joan Lowder, 764-3546. Class is $15 for 2.5 hr. class. If you have the butterfly punch, mat pack with piercer, that might speed things along.

Tammy has been one busy gal. Don't you just love all the great backgrounds you can get by using the embossing folders by Stampin Up. Remember these will also work in a cuttlebug. The reinstines by Stampin Up are so easy to use as they already have adhesive and come in many sizes just perfect for this card. There's that bling again. Thanks again Tammy.

Stamped 2 4 6 8 box/bag project

Welcome to one of the easiest boxes/bags you will ever make. It's a 2 4 6 8 template. Here are 3 sizes you can make. Idea is to score at equal points, 2", 4", 6", 8" to make this box. You must have a bit left over to have something to glue the corner to. The bottom is scored accordingly. I normally score the bottom to match the sides, 2". However on the smaller box I only scored at 1.5" or else the box is just too short.

Hope you'll have fun making these. Best to score, then stamp, then make your folds on the score lines.

The middle box is scored in landscape mode. After the 8" score mark, you'll then make a cut length of paper at about 8.5 or 9". I put my adhesive on the fold over piece entire length of the paper.

Be sure to crease all your score marks before making your cuts. Very important.

Well I just love this little box and I'm trying to load photos to show you how to score and cut. You can get 2 small ones from one pattern/1 sheet of paper. The small size is the one I use the most. Of course the larger size is a very nice size as well. What you want to remember is that when making the two small boxes, you'll want to score bottoms on both ends and for the small box I only make the small box 1.5" in from the end. If you do a 2" bottom your box/bag will be too short. On the taller boxes/bags, I make the bottom score at 2" from the end. I sure hope this makes sense. So I'm showing you layout for the larger boxes/bags. Then I'm showing only 1/2 page for the small box. Of course my other photo won't load but check back as I'm still trying to get it to upload. August Stamp Classes.... wow time flies

Hard to believe we're on the second half of the year already. August classes are on the calendar so be sure you have a seat.

Be sure to watch the dates. The Thursday class might be moving to a different day of the week. I have dates posted for a few months but watch for some changes. For sure people have their seats already reserved. As the new Club year starts in August it might take some folks a time or two to find a class that works and remember you can always move. You are not locked into a certain class. Also with holidays like Labor Day, I might have to make some changes.

August Stamp Class is $15 for a 2.5 hr. class making 1-3 projects. August special is: place at least a $15 order (before tax and s/h) while in class and you'll only pay $5 for your class. If you use a credit card, I will need the $5 in check or cash form so come prepared.

June '10 Stampin Up Class projects

June, 2010 class projects. Well I enjoyed making all of these with a little help and inspiration from others. The 3-d flower card was just so much fun but won't fit in an envelope.
I found this card idea on pg. 72, Papercrafts May 2006, cased card by Amber Crosley. I changed it up by texturing the colored piece. The butterflies are a die by Stampin Up as well as the plates and verses. The verses are from Whimiscal Words, SAB '10. The butterflies die is from Mini catalog that retired 5/31/10. It has 5 butterflies. I pop dotted the big one on inside of the card.

Well this card idea by Joanne Gelnar. When you see a great idea, just change it up based on what you have on hand. Well of course I used my favorite and very first SU set: Lovely as a Tree. Yep, it didn't retire this year either. I just love it.

The leaves in the background are stamped in Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Choc. Chip.

Cardstock: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Natural Vanilla color.

Once again, inspired by Joanne Gelnar. Give credit where credit is due. What a fun project.

Using your round scallop punch, punch out 5. Punch a hole thru the middle. Now one at a time, wet each scallop circle, both sides and take out your frustrations on it by wadding it up. Actually one girl in class called it an old fashioned "Spit" ball. Now I surely don't remember making one of those as a young girl.

Open up each flower petal. Insert brad thru and thread each layer on. Bend brad back flat. Now re squish the flower and then open up to suit you. Let dry or with a little help from the heat gun we moved on. The white is textured with SU texture plates of your choice.

Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, W.White, Cottage designer paper.

Sets: Leave from Petal Pizzaz, words of your choice.

Sizes for paper: Designer paper: 1 5/8 x 4 1/8

Rich Razzleberry to back it: 2 3/8 x 4 1/4

Accessories: Brad, water, scallop border punch, texture plates

January 2010 class projects

I have to tell you I'm just in love with the new Texture Plates. What an easy background for any card.
When you open this card the little heart will dangle. I did not have any of the current heart sets so this heart is from an old stamp set. But any heart that will fit inside the hole will work. The heart was stamped twice and glued together and hung from 4 jump rings.


Dangling Heart on Dots tweaked idea, & inspired by Kim Kesti, Papercrafts, 2/08, pg. 68

• Stamp Sets: A Happy Heart, Any heart set with heart small enough to dangle thru the hole., I also used Love Ya and Listen with the Heart both retired.



• Paper: White, Real Red



• Ink: Real Red



• Accessories: Real Red Stripe Grosgrain ribbon, ¾”; jewelry rings x 4; glue dots, pop dots, silver brads x 2; texture plate “backgrounds 1” Lg. Dots; lg. round scallop punch, 1/16” hole punch, any punch you have for tags for the words on the front. I didn’t have different sizes so I used Modern Label punch, #116630.

1. Slide the round circle scallop punch in from the side ¾ way up and punch out.

2. Using this place the back side of the Red that has been textured, against the white and from the inside draw the scallop for alignment for punching out the red. You cannot punch out both at the same time as it will stick and break your punch.

3. Glue the red piece over the front of the white card.

4. Find a heart stamp that will fit in the hole and dangle. You need to make two that can mirror together. Glue together and punch a 1/16” hole in the top of the heart.

5. Adhere 4 jump rings.

6. Punch a small 1/16” hole in the top of the scallop hole to hang the rings from. Over that hole glue (with glue dot) your tied piece of ribbon to the size you like.

7. Stamp your words and put brad thru hole at one end. Because of the height that the brad raises it up, I used a pop dot on the other end underneath.

8. Inside the card I stamped the big heart from A Happy Heart and words from Listen with the Heart.

Card: Upsy Daisy on the soft side tweaked idea, Inspired by Barbara Miriello

I'd have to say the colors are not very true to color. My camera and I are having conversations over this color issue. Sad to say this is Mellow Moss and Apricot Appeal.


Stamp Sets: Upsy Daisy, Cheesecloth background stamp (or any of your choice), any word set you want for the inside

• Paper: Mellow Moss 4 x 3 ¼” , Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White 3 x 1 ¾” (Or Certainly Celery & Old Olive w/same ink)



• Ink: Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal



• Accessories: Apricot Appeal Ribbon (about 8 inches), 2 gold brads, 1/16” hole punch, Distressing tool, Glue dots, Hole alignment from Mat Pack.
  
  Card is Always Artichoke. Side piece is Apricot Appeal. Tear down and stamp with a background stamp or if you prefer stamp the card with background stamp.
  



• On the Mellow Moss, stamp the flowers from Upsy Daisy in Mellow Moss, toward the top of the piece. Distress the edges.
  



• White piece. Stamp your verse in A.A., distress 3 sides, not the top. Adhere to bottom of M.Moss piece.
  



• Put some double stick tape on back sides of M.Moss piece and pull the ribbon across the front and adhere to back (to save ribbon). Attach the bow with glue dot or slip thru and tie. Wrap around pc of ribbon is about 4 ¼ “ and the faux bow is about 3.5”.
  



• Punch 2 small holes, using the hole alignment from Mat Pack, or eye ball with pencil to keep straight and not to close to edge or each other.

Well I was so disappointed when I discovered that Hershey’s York Peppermint Patties have new packaging. Talk about messing up a project midway thru the month. So I’d suggest that you look for the off brand mints that still have the nice folk wrapping. PS. I think you now get less York’s. They say bigger patty but actually less in the bag itself.

Stamp Sets: Any words you like. This would be cute with stamped circles for flower centers.
Cardstock: Color you like with coordinating paper

Accessories: 4 Peppermint patties (small), Med. Cello bags, Lg. round scallop punch, 1 3/8” round hole punch. big glue dots, stapler or brads to hold closed.
Adhere print paper circle on scallop and glue to back of patty with lg. glue dot.
Make a topper and close with staples, brads or tape.

Just a normal notebook transformed

This was a normal little notebook that I made into a personalized one. It was quite easy to cover. For this one, I lined up the cardstock to the spiral and made a dot at each spiral. I then punched a hole at each dot. I cut into the hole at an angle so that I once I glued it to the front of the notebook, I just punched the pieces down between the spirals. The flower was made from the die with 2 circle scallops. The leaves are just free form. The idea will be to write down good things for that day on the pages.

Fifth Avenue Floral rose card, Sept. Class

Just a couple more pictures to show you how different the rose can look with other colors or even a couple of colors. I used to paint but have never done watercolor so this was my first try.

The trick is to go lightly with color as you can add more. You can't take it away.

Here is another rose. This rose and technique is very addictive. Well I can't throw anything a way. Yes I had the polka dot piece of paper left over and thought great place to use it. I like the olive tones, more suited to roses, I think.

















This one again is two pieces. Textured white at top and just some garden green cardstock at the bottom. I stamped the rose on the white as well as the green. This rose was with a touch of the new crushed curry and melon mambo.

My roses are growing without any Miracle Grow. Actually I can grow these roses.

P.S. Did I tell you that I stamped the rose onto shimmery paper with versamark and sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat set. Then when you spritz the paper with water and touch the water with ink, it just spreads.

Now if I can figure out how to do a video, I'll show you. Otherwise come to class. I think this will be one of the cards offered as come make a few.

Let me know if you have interest in making any of these and we'll put a class together.
