Fifth Avenue Floral rose card, Sept. Class

Just a couple more pictures to show you how different the rose can look with other colors or even a couple of colors. I used to paint but have never done watercolor so this was my first try.

The trick is to go lightly with color as you can add more. You can't take it away.

Here is another rose. This rose and technique is very addictive. Well I can't throw anything a way. Yes I had the polka dot piece of paper left over and thought great place to use it. I like the olive tones, more suited to roses, I think.

















This one again is two pieces. Textured white at top and just some garden green cardstock at the bottom. I stamped the rose on the white as well as the green. This rose was with a touch of the new crushed curry and melon mambo.

My roses are growing without any Miracle Grow. Actually I can grow these roses.

P.S. Did I tell you that I stamped the rose onto shimmery paper with versamark and sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat set. Then when you spritz the paper with water and touch the water with ink, it just spreads.

Now if I can figure out how to do a video, I'll show you. Otherwise come to class. I think this will be one of the cards offered as come make a few.

Fifth Avenue Florals, Sept '09 stamp class

September 2009 class is using Rich Razzleberry, one of the new In Colors and the Fifth Avenue Floral set. Love this rose on Shimmery Paper.

Roses are popping up everywhere. This could be one of my most pleasant cards to work on as they all come out so differently and no two seem to be alike. I do like that this is using just one color of ink, Rich Razzleberry and I have to tell you that alone makes it easy. Trick is to spitze the paper and let the ink move on the paper in the water. No need to rub the paper other than to move the ink around.

Well I must say I'm hooked on this technique. I saw it on Patty Bennet's blog. As you can see no two turn out the same way.

The style of this card was inspired by jdmeeks on Splitcoaststampers.

This is one of the cards for the Sept. class. I used Cottage Wall designer paper and as you can see since it's double sided, they card can look so different.

First time I've ever used the shimmery paper and oh I do like it and the photo doesn't do it justice but you can see the shimmer.

Wild Rose (for the leaves)

Cottage Wall Designer paper attached to a white card. The top part is white cardstock using a texture plate and adhered to a white card. They are joined with black grosgrain ribbon. I taped the two pieces of paper together with tape on the back side. This way the ribbon can wrap around and be under the front pieces and not show on the inside of the card. Clean looking. The words are in the stamp set. As for leaves, I think you could use leaves from most any set. The set comes with 3 flowers, words, stem.

The color is the new Rich Razzleberry. WOW, I just love it. Did I already say that.

This one is using

Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango

with a touch of Mellon Mambo.

P.S. The plant container is made out of paper mache by my baby sister for one of our Christmas gifts. He always has a smile on his face.

September 2009 Stamp Class... Treat Bags & similar Sept card

Well I hope September is treating you well. Hard to believe it's almost Fall and the holidays are just around the corner. To get you started, we are making little treat bags this month. You'll make the white one as well as one in Apricot Appeal. The Set with pumpkings is a nice set, Autumn Harvest, #110372, $17.95 . I used the old deckle scissors to cut off the tops of these 2.4.6.8 bags. Remember you get 2 from one sheet of cardstock. I'll have the pattern for everyone. The words are punched with the Word window punch, #105090 $15.95. The greeting is from "Teenie Tiny Wishes # 115370, $36.95, 24 greetings
.Gosh I forgot to tell you that I used "Dusty Durango" ink, Choc. chip for the face and Handsome Hunter for the leaves around the top.













Now doesn't everyone need a card for a man. It was hard to decide on what do do with this bird. I'm not the best in the art department and surely don't know what color this bird is supposed to be. While I'm showing some samples of trial cards we'll be making the one with the rounded edges. I've finally mastered an easy way to do the bird using daubers rather than messing up your markers. This set is actually growing on me as the other pieces in this set are quiet nice for other cards. Set: Autumn Days #115452 $23.95. Well of course I can't get the other pictures to load so I'll list in a separate entry. It will be similar to these but with rounded edges. I'll add details about sizes, and what I used so do check back.
