About Me

My photo
Midway, NC, United States
I retired from Bali Bras, Sara Lee Intimates. Married in Oct 1976. I love meeting new people so hope to hear from you. Drop me a line. I've been doing crafts of all kinds since I was a kid. I loved making things and especially things that are recycled. I had never stamped until 2001 when I went to a stamp class while on vacation. We went to a local store to buy the stamps we had used. OUCH. When we got home I saw a Stampin Up catalog and realized how much money I could save with their stamps and best part as they are sets that go together which makes for easy card making. After doing some thinking I decided I should sign up as a demo and see what happens. I didn't know the first thing about stamping and still learning. Retired from Sara Lee Intimates in Feb 2001. I was in sales after many years, since age 18, as an office person, secretary, office assistant, etc. I am out of Stamping Up since Spring 2017 but still have lots of supplies!!!! These days I'm back to quilting and having a great time.

October 2009 Class card #1

Well I love this card. I used Lovely Letters alphabet. Colors are Melon Mambo, Glorious Green, Whisper White. Punch out the letters with more white at the top. Once you glue the letters onto the green, using the double hole punch mark the holes on the N. Then with a clip stack all the layers, 8 layers of cardstock, keep letters straight and punch the two holes with the cropadile. Oh you got to love that funky tool. Viola, two punches and you are ready to go.

String the letters on silver cording (or ribbon would be great). Tape down the ends on the top of the colored piece which is under the flap.

Flap is part of the white card. Cut white at 8.5 x 5.5. Score the flap at 3 3/4" and fold down. Use the scallop border punch to do the edge. Stamp with anything. The colored piece just tucks up under the flap. This way you get two white cards from one sheet of cardstock. As for the colored piece you can get 3 pieces from one piece of cardstock. Think I cut it at 3 6/8. Well I love the close line dangling look. The tree is from Perfect Presentation, a retired set.

Break out those alphabets and get busy on your clothesline. Sure hope the girls will enjoy making this card.

P.S. It fits into a #10 business envelope. How cool is that.

October 2009 Class card #3

Here is the same card in white. I used Serene Snowflakes stamp set. Color is bordering blue. The other card is bordering blue on bordering blue cardstock. Here you can see the punch out window done with the 3/4" square punch, punch it out 4 times.

I'm loving the confettie stars. I adhere'd with a tiny dot of the white glue SU sells, placed with a toothpick. This card will go so fast and you can use it for anything from Happy B'day to Seasons Greetings or just thinking of you.

October 2009 class card 2

Thanks for stopping by. I've tweaked this card since this was taken s come back for the new card. I was inspired for this card by calebandmemsmom. It orginally had 4 punches of 3/4" squares so that the words appear on inside and you see the greeting thru the window. It was hard for you to see so I've placed the greeting on white and it's placed in behind the window in this case.

We're also doing this same card on white which offers some variety for ribbons. The silver stars are confetti. This silver ribbon is not SU.

Our new version has used the circle scallop punch on the front of the card. Then peaking thru the scallop on the front you'll see a stamped scallop punch in white onside of the card.

Christmas is in the air.....October 09 Stamp Class.... Card 4

When you enlarge this card, you'll really see the background paper, "Shimmery White", oh so pretty.

#4 card for October 09 class. I was inspired for this card from FubsyRuth on Splitcoaststampers.

I chose greens so that you could use different glitters for the ornaments on the tree. You'll have to enlarge this one to see the Dazzling Diamonds.

I love this card. So simple and pretty and shimmery paper as background for the tree is just so pretty. Sorry you can't really see it. Will try to get a better picture.

Done is simple green, I made several with different dots on the tree of color, glitter, etc. This one has dots of veresamark with dazzling diamonds. Sorry you can't see that either.

I used Shimmery White paper, Certainly Celery, Handsome Hunter cardstock.
Ink is C.Celery and H.Hunter. The background on the label is the new "Modern Label" punch. The ribbon is faux, as it is stuck behind the C.Celery.

Just a normal notebook transformed

This was a normal little notebook that I made into a personalized one. It was quite easy to cover. For this one, I lined up the cardstock to the spiral and made a dot at each spiral. I then punched a hole at each dot. I cut into the hole at an angle so that I once I glued it to the front of the notebook, I just punched the pieces down between the spirals. The flower was made from the die with 2 circle scallops. The leaves are just free form. The idea will be to write down good things for that day on the pages.

Sharing some cards

While these may not be current sets or paper, it's all in the layout and making what you have work. Yes I've had these cards for a while and I was cleaning off the mantel in my craft room and thought I'd share them with you. Do you have a card you'd like me to post to the blog.

Well I believe a fellow demonstrator sent me both of these cards. Thanks Kay Bray for these 3 cards.

This card with the sassy lady, boobs sagging, was sent to me by my friend Lora Goins who never mails her cards. Stamping and coming to class is therapy for her and if you want to see her cards you are welcome to look thru her shoebox of card treasures. Lora did this one on her own. You go girl.

This card was made by Lynn Rowan, my downline in Mandeville, La. It's using clorox stamping. Watch out for your clothes and clean up those stamps quickly.

This card with the torn window shows trees peaking thru. It was sent to me by Angie Nifong. What a nice card. The trees are from Lovely as a Tree.

World Card Making Day Swap, October 1

Making beautiful cards is a piece of art work. If you find that you send a card to the same person a lot, you know a small feel good gift. Have you ever considered giving that person a small table easel to display their cards on. Ever thought about one for your desk or house to display your artwork on. Think of it as a small painting. Are you sharing your artwork. Ok so what if you cased the idea. After awhile you can tweak it and make it your own and before you know it, you are creating your own art.

So...... did you hear the news. October 3 is World Card Making Day. Let's do a Virtual Card Swap. Send me a picture of your Stampin Up card, be sure to include your name. I'll post them on 10/3. 2 entries per person but I'll let you know if I need more. If we have 50 entries, I'll do a drawing for blog candy. I'll number the cards as they come in.

Just email me with picture of your card and include name of the set used, please. Also include your name and if you can add it to the card as text, all the better. Email me, jlowder1@bellsouth.net your cards by October 1.

I've never tried this before, but let's see how it goes. Come on and join us, this could be fun.
