About Me

My photo
Midway, NC, United States
I retired from Bali Bras, Sara Lee Intimates. Married in Oct 1976. I love meeting new people so hope to hear from you. Drop me a line. I've been doing crafts of all kinds since I was a kid. I loved making things and especially things that are recycled. I had never stamped until 2001 when I went to a stamp class while on vacation. We went to a local store to buy the stamps we had used. OUCH. When we got home I saw a Stampin Up catalog and realized how much money I could save with their stamps and best part as they are sets that go together which makes for easy card making. After doing some thinking I decided I should sign up as a demo and see what happens. I didn't know the first thing about stamping and still learning. Retired from Sara Lee Intimates in Feb 2001. I was in sales after many years, since age 18, as an office person, secretary, office assistant, etc. I am out of Stamping Up since Spring 2017 but still have lots of supplies!!!! These days I'm back to quilting and having a great time.

Bookworms & Books have found a new home. Thanks everyone.

Well this is a huge thank you to the gals in my stamp group. I'll come back to give credit to everyone who donated books to this '09 service project. I appreciate that my stampers always come thru to help out.

Here you can see the boxes of books with the bookworms tucked inside. These will make their way to the shelter (http://www.fsdc.org/ ) in Lexington, NC. Debora Rice , Family Services of Davidson County came to pick them up and the smile on her face when she saw them was enough for me. She said she could just imagine the faces of the kids who would get to select a book or two. The bookworms were made using my Stampin Up scraps of cardstock. Circles overlapping to make the worms. A Pom Pom for the head and beads or wiggly eyes on the head with antenna. Well I think the worms are just so darn cute and who wouldn't want to keep them safe tucked down into a book.

In total Debora Rice carried off 135 books. A special thanks Rhonda Johnson, a stampin bud, who brought 55 books. Also a special thanks to Janice Boyles who is not in my stamping group but did attend a stamp class, who donated $10 to buy some books. The following folks contributed to the making of the worms and donated books: Lea Kimmel, Julie Heidtmann, Alisa Ragan, Trish Canter, Belinda Smith, Beth Stewart, Ann Krieg, Susan Kelley, Anne Collins, Sandy Saulpaugh, Carol Ford for helping out with the books and bookworms. I feel sure I've forgotten someone. Please let me know if I overlooked you and I'll update this.

June 09 stamp class

Here are the projects for the June 09 stamp class in my stamp room as well as the Senior Center.
Come check out the variety for this months class. You'll feel like dancing across the floor in your pretty dress, want to pick petals off your daisy tag card and all the dancing will make your stars fly on your patriotic card.

In this class you will make one of each of these choices. I think you will have fun. I'm sorry to say the sets used for the patriotic card are retired but the concept can be used with any set you have. It's your card, make it your own. The patriotic card was inspired by Diane Glenn. I'm sad to say that I did use a retired stamp set for this card but that's ok, some sets are just too good to give up.

The darling tag card with daisy , below, was inspired by Meg Loven. I tried to tweak them to make them my own by adding a card inside of it and you'll surely want to hang it on a package or better yet, on someone's door knob as a pleasant surprise.

The darling dress is using several of our designer papers. I believe I used Bella Rose for this this one.

Posted by PicasaThis tag card is using #113468 Scallop Circle die, $19.95. I also used this die to make the dress card above. The daisies are using the Flower: Daisies #2 die, #114520, $19.95. It punches out 3 daisies at once. So cool.

The dies are used with the Big Shot machine.

I also used wheels to roll the tag card as well as Pretty Petals background stamp #111008, $17.95 is such a pretty background stamp with butterflies fluttering by.

Graffiti Bracelet

About once a month I meet my friend Mary Jane half way for lunch and we craft. We've been crafting at Fire Mountain in Salisbuy for so many years I can't remember. We go in with rolling carts and craft after we have lunch. We spend hours there and they know us as the crafty ladies. Well 2 months ago, Mary Jane brought the project which was to make a "graffiti Bracelet". Well it took us so long just to find words and cut them out that's all we got done. So last month we actually made our bracelets.

Well then I thought what a great gift for my niece graduation from High School. After about a month of searching for just the right words, here's what I came up with along with her card and a jeweled bag of money. All girls love money. Now the box is just a jewelry box (actually an old one) that I sponged with classic ink (craft would have been better) and then sealed it with some clear varnish. I added square beads to the bottom for feet. The edges of the box were stamped and embossed. The gold emblem was already on top so I just added a reinstone to the center. Viola, I had a cool box for the bracelet. The shredding around the bracelet was made from curling ribbon tha I ran thru a splitter and then I curled it so I had matching shredding that I had used on her faux diploma.

Remember you can always click on the photos to make them larger.

Now while this is not a stamped project, I'd like to say that with all the awesome words that SU has to offer along with words tucked into to quotes, phrases, the next one I make will be stamped. Now I coated the bracelet with Mod Podge "Hard coat" finish and I adhered the pieces as well with this. Now here is what I think would have to happen if you do this stamped, you would need to stamp and emboss, otherwise the image will vanish with just a stamped image in classic ink. I also think it might best to actually stamp on tissue paper which would almost vanish when adhered to the bracelet and more give going over round edges. I'll post the next one I make that will be stamped.

Now for stamping the image and embossing. I think the best would be to use black craft ink and clear embossing powder. Why, well I have oily skin which means everything I touch leaves a nice surface for the black embossing powder to stick to. So if this is the route you choose, use embossing buddy, versamark ink and black powder. Just another cool stamping project.

My Blog

May, 2009 when I started the blog and it's still a learning experience even in 2017.

If you are ever looking for a retired stamp set, ask me, I might have it and let it go.

As a follower you'll get emails when I post things which I tend to do in batches, once or twice a month once I get back on schedule.

Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate all comments.
